Fratelli Alinari, founded in Florence in 1852, is the oldest photographic archive in the world with a library of over 3,500.000 photographs, ranging from the discovery of photography to the present. The Archive preserves the originals (glass plates, negatives on film, authocromes, vintage prints, colour photos of the most famous photographers of the nineteenth and twentieth century, beginning with the Alinari production. Alinari Archives are increasing their heritage continuously thanks to a modern series of colour and black-and-white photographic campaigns inside museums and state collections in agreement with the Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities, or commissioned photography.
