1008470 - Portrait by John Hedgecoe - Sir Edwin Hardy Amies (17 July 1909 - 5 March 2003) was a English dressmaker. In 1955 he was awarded a Royal Warrant by Queen Elizabeth II as her official dressmaker which he continued to be until 1990. He was educated at Brentwood School, Essex until 1927. He was knighted in 1989. In 1946 he setup his own fashion house at 14 Savile Row. He ran this until May 2001 when he retired and sold it to the Luxury Brands Group.
